KUKII is an artist reborn from the heart of Cairo‘s bustling streets, forged in an inferno of pride and resistance. A few weeks after making her comeback under her new alias with the single “Rare Baby”, and taking part in Sega Bodega‘s European tour as a special guest, KUKII releases “Daylight Heist”, 2nd single from her new EP due for release on February 21st 2025.
“Daylight Heist” is a frenetic anthem born out of a paradoxical context of rebellion and paradise. It was conceived in the Cayman Islands —a surreal backdrop of crystal seas and shadowy dealings —between KUKII and American collaborators Nightfeelings and Cecile Believe (SOPHIE, Shygirl, Caroline Polachek, Oklou etc), at a time post-COVID when this was the only location where they could all feasibly meet.
The inspiration for the story struck KUKII after hearing a tale of a bold Parisian heist: two motorbikes, a brazen daylight robbery, and millions in stolen jewellery from the heart of luxury and security at the Chanel store in Paris. This audacious act became the muse for a track that celebrates defiance, self-determination, and the audacity to claim opportunities that you weren’t “born into” or “destined for”.
“Sometimes we need to just take things and not ask for things – says KUKII – I wanted to write a fun pirate-like, Robin Hood-vibe song for my girlfriends, that communicates the idea that being well behaved doesn’t pay off so much.”
