It’s time for year-end reports, and the Beatport’s 2024 one is always one of the most eagerly awaited, and not just by music industry insiders.
With a monthly average of 100,000 tracks uploaded to its catalogue, Beatport is undoubtedly one of the most important references in the diverse universe of electronic music. Its 2024 report looks at 32 genres, from 140/deepdubstep/grime to uk garage/bassiline and also presents a top 100 of the most streamed tracks.
This top 100 sees Disclosure’s “You & Me (Flume remix)” feat. Eliza Doolittle in first place, “Move” by Adam Port, Keinemusik, Stryv and Malachiii in second, “Somebody (extended mix)” by Chris Lake, Gotye, Kimbra, Sante Sansone and FISHER (OZ) in third. The complete top 100 in this link.
On its website, Beatport does not fail to point out that 2024 also proved to be a very important year for dance music, highlighting in particular the continued expansion of Bass Music in North America, the return of Eurodance to Europe, the resurgence of Tech House in South America and above all the global explosion of Afro House, the latter a factor already highlighted last June in an ad hoc article.
