Who and who inspired you to become a DJ?
Growing up in Belgium, I was always surrounded by music. Belgium has a vibrant music scene, which played a big role in fueling my passion for music, especially electronic music. Before I became a DJ, I was a huge fan of the genre. My journey began as a DJ at birthday parties and local parties and got noticed by some party organizers who hosted events in a club. The party was called Ibiza World Tour, and the club I played at that time was Versuz Hasselt. Both became my residency after the first show. In the meantime, I was also exploring myself as a music producer and sound engineer, and that experience opened the door for me to experiment. I started creating remixes and my own tracks at home. I quickly realized that making music was what truly made me happy, and life is too short not to pursue what you love. So, I went for it. Fortunately, the combination of both got me where I am today, and I’m blessed I could pursue my dreams so far but I’m definitely not there yet. I feel more energized than ever to go to the next level!
Which kind of music did you listen when teenager?
Electronic music in general. I didn’t really focus on just one genre at the time because I was still exploring and trying to find my own sound.
And now?
Now, I’m really into tech house, that’s the core of most of my tracks. Lately, I’ve also been exploring Latin house and Afro house. In fact, my recent release is my first-ever Afro house track, and I’m sure it won’t be my last!
Which platform do you use to listen to music?
Mostly Spotify. I have public playlists there, and I curate them for all kinds of occasions. But of course, I also listen on other platforms like SoundCloud, especially for discovering underground and unreleased tracks.
Why Africa is becoming so important in the electronic music scene?
Africa is playing a huge role in the electronic music scene right now and I think it’s because of its rich unique rhythms. Afro house and Afro tech have this deep, organic energy that blends so well with modern electronic sounds. It just brings something fresh to the table.
Your favourite djs and producers?
I’ve always looked up to Eric Prydz and of course David Guetta. I’m lucky to have shared the same stage as them before. They definitely gave me confidence, because for example David Guetta when he came off stage, he asked me if I was ready and told me not to worry, that I could do it. That gave me a big boost. Avicii and Martin Garrix are also my inspirations. I love Martin’s vibe, I met him a couple times and is always super friendly and good vibes with him.
Your favourite clubs and festivals?
It’s hard to choose because every place I’ve played has its own unique vibe. But of course, Versuz and Tomorrowland hold a special place in my heart! Versuz is where a big part of my journey started, and Tomorrowland is where every DJs dream to play at. I’m very fortunate to be invited for almost 10 years now.
The most important record in your box?
The most important record for me is always the one I’m planning to release. It’s the one I’m most focused on at the moment, and it represents where I’m at musically. Every track feels like a new chapter, so I put a lot of energy and emotion into making sure it’s just right before it drops.
Your all time favourite track?
My all-time favorite tracks are “Come Back to Me” and “Dreams”, both hold a special place for me because of the messages and the stories behind them. They’re not just tracks; they represent personal moments and emotions that I poured into the music.
How to send you promos?
You can send it over to promo@kenncolt.com
Your favourites food / actor / football team / tv series?
My favorite food is definitely Asian cuisine: I love Thai food, Indian, sushi, hotpot… pretty much all of it! When it comes to TV shows, I don’t watch Netflix or anything, but I’m really into The Joe Rogan Experience podcast right now. As for football, I don’t really follow it. This year, I’m hoping to have more time to enjoy these things!
Your hobbies?
I love to travel and explore new cultures so their music, food, and traditions. I also enjoy meeting people from different places and sharing experiences. On top of that, I’m really into working out, hiking, and whenever I have the time, snowboarding & surfing.
Why did you select My Other Side of The Moon for your upcoming release?
It was totally meant to be! I didn’t even pitch them the track. They heard me play it in a club about six months ago, and the crowd’s reaction was amazing. The owner of the label came up to me afterward, and when he found out it wasn’t released yet, we started talking. It just felt right, so we decided to make it happen!
Your life long dream?
My lifelong dream is to keep building my music marketing agency (feelslikemusic.com) and record label (Feels Like Home Records) into something bigger. My vision is to create an “home” for artists. A place where they can grow, develop their sound, and get the support they need to reach a global audience and make a real impact.
Your upcoming projects ?
I’ve got big plans for 2025! More music is on the way, basically every month another release. with several finished projects already lined up for releases under my own label (Feels Like Home Records) and other labels too. I’m also working on some exciting collaborations and, on top of that, I’m currently touring in Asia for 1,5 month with shows in Thailand, Nepal & Macau. Can’t wait to share everything with you! Stay tuned and follow me for all the latest updates.
