January 2025, Saturday 25th (from 8pm till late): The Alchemist presents RISE Kenya for the second time with Hyenah, Jane Ryse, Walter Griot, Ukai Mdame, supported by Rise A&R Ghedi and local hero AFU.
RISE is a Berlin based collective and label with cosmopolitan roots. Its members are Hyenah, Walter Griot, GHEDI, Jane Ryse and Ukai Collectively its members are from Nigeria, Angola, Congo, Germany, Senegal and Ethiopia. RISE is inspired by African House music, and equality, diversity and social justice is at the core of its identity.
RISE strives to create spaces where people can feel safe to express themselves, no matter their ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, or social status and it aims to distill and deliver some of the core tenets of African music, namely dance and emotion, to provide some color and warmth in Berlin’s harsh grayscale palette.
