It was Raye’s night at the Brit Awards, the one celebrated at The O2 Arena in London (UK) March 2024, Saturday 2nd. Raye made history winning six out of the seven awards she was nominated for, surpassing the previous record of four wins in a single ceremony held by Blur, Adele and Harry Styles.

Not only the British-Ghanaian popstar secured her place in the spotlight with her astounding victories; Raye also became the first woman to clinch the prestigious “Songwriter of the Year” award.

Raye had already shattered records back in January by receiving seven nominations, setting a new benchmark for the most nominations garnered by a single artist in a year. The Brit Awards ceremony unequivocally belonged to this twenty-something graduate of the BRIT School in South London. After being announced as the winner of “Songwriter of the Year,” Raye went on to claim five more awards, bringing her total to an impressive six.

Her wins for “Mastercard Album of the Year,” “Best New Artist“, “Artist of the Year”, “Song of the Year with Mastercard” for Escapism, and “R&B Act” catapult Raye to the top of the Brits’ leaderboard for the most wins in a single night, surpassing the previous record of four held by Harry Styles (2023), Adele (2016), and Blur (1995).

Raye also delivered a triumphant medley performance, featuring ‘Ice Cream Man,’ ‘Prada,’ & ‘Escapism’.
