January 2024: Sita Abellán notches another milestone in her astounding career as a creative with her first-ever body of work under her techno alias, SITA. Her new concept EP “Generacion XDISIS”, arrives via Spanish underground techno veteran Héctor Oaks label, KAOS.
With “Generacion XDISIS”, which contains four visceral club tracks, SITA depicts her own metamorphosis as she focuses on the idea of mutation, evolution, and shedding skin. SITA shares the story of her journey and transformation from DJ to producer, from club kid to having kids, and exploring her creativity like she never has before. The sound draws from SITA’s love of historical techno, tapping into ‘00s Eurohouse, the post-Franco Spanish techno Ruta Del Bakalao era in ‘90s Valencia, Belgian new beat from the ‘80s, and modern Berlin techno.
“This EP represents for me an artistic evolution, a journey into the deepest parts of my being. It’s about sharing myself through my music, authentic communication, and a manifestation of my ever-evolving best self.” (SITA)
Outfitted with her firmly established aesthetic through her previous creative projects in fashion and music, SITA is equipped to serve as a new type of storyteller in the realm of techno, both through production and lyricism. On “XTASIS CARNAL” SITA vividly spins a lust-drenched tale with lyrics like “No existe noche / No existe día / Solo el derroche de tu boca y la mía” (translation: “There is no night / There is no day / Only the waste of your mouth and mine”). On “333” SITA deals with frustration and failure and how they can serve as an exorcism in the sometimes demanding creative process: “There is a mirror speaking inside my head / It tells me stay alive but I’d rather, I’d rather be dead…”
The EP is the culmination of an incredibly busy two-year period for SITA, which included launching her LGBTQ+ forward techno party series OUTOPIA last year (feat. Brutalismus 3000, Animistic Beliefs, AADJA), performing at major festivals (Secret Project, III Points, Sonar Mexico) and storied Ibiza clubs (DC10, Hï Ibiza), and collaborating with Héctor Oaks on his debut album earlier this year. As a DJ, SITA’s love of historical techno, industrial, and electro sounds is paired with a fascination for the new and current, channeling rave psychedelia with dark industrial influences. Her sound was broadcast by Boiler Room on December 8, where she debuted for the platform at their event in Cologne, Germany, at Schrotty (the video will be available for playback in March 2024).
Over a decade, SITA has proven herself as a multi-hyphenate creative icon and internet phenomenon who matrices fashion, music, and digital culture into a persona unlike any other. She’s styled stars like Kim Kardashian and J. Balvin, created a jewelry line (Lilith) that’s been supported by Vogue and Billie Eilish, collaborated on designs with major brands like Fendi, Faith Connexion — while becoming a mother in 2022 and having her second child in September.
