July 2023 28th, Cairo-based artist El Kontessa released her debut album “Nos Habet Caramel” on limited edition vinyl & digital via Bilna’es, the multidisciplinary platform headed up by Palestinian producer Muqata’a, and visual artists Basel Abbas & Ruanne Abou-Rahme.

El Kontessa is know for mirroring Cairo’s sonic landscape in her productions. ‘Nos Habet Caramel’ delivers accelerating polyrhythms, echoing Mahraganat percussion, vocal hits, bursts of synths across 7 sample-heavy, beat-driven tracks.

El Kontessa has released a track on ZULI & Rama’s irsh compilation, and has represented her hometown in Boiler Room as well as Vice, and been touring around the world since her musical debut in 2018. Illustrator of the album artwork herself, she is also a visual artist having the chance to exhibit in Copenhagen, Napoli, LA, & more.

Bilna’es has previously released the highly acclaimed debut album from Palestinian artist Julmud in early 2022, as well as a series of video games, and put on a display at Printed Matter in New York. The platform was established to release music, web projects, publications, host performances, installations, and more. Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme are NYC-based visual artists who have recently exhibited at MoMA.
