The Nigerian ‘afrobeats’ singer Burna Boy, the North American hip-hop star 50 Cent and the French ‘rapper’ Booba are the headliners of the Afro Nation festival, which takes place between the 28th and 30th of June 2023 in Portimão, Portugal.
Check the aftermovie out, for a little sample of Afro Nation Festival vibe:
The third edition of the festival in Portuguese territory also presents the Nigerian Asake, the French singer of Malian origin Aya Nakamura, known for the theme “Djaja”, Fireboy DML, Black Sherrif, Vegedream, Oxladee Ms Banks. South African beat masters Major League DJz, DJ Uncle Waffles, DBN Gogo, Vigro Deep, and more will be around to give the people the amapiano fix they want and deserve: all this, in a poster in which the Portuguese language also is present with Cape Verdean Nelson Freitas and Portuguese Afro-descendant Soraia Ramos.
“We are excited to welcome Wizkid, Davido, Little Simz, Popcaan, Focalistic and more to Afro Nation Portugal 2023,” said Afro Nation Portugal organisers. “These artists represent the very best of African music and culture, and we can’t wait to see them perform on our beautiful beach stage. With so many incredible acts on the lineup, this is shaping up to be the summer’s most unmissable party, and our best festival yet.”
The event, which is classified as “the biggest ‘Afrobeats’ festival in the world”, thus returns to Praia da Rocha, in that municipality in the district of Faro, for the third edition on Portuguese soil.
If not possible to make it all the way to Europe for the festival, no fear; the first-ever US show has been set for a May 27-28 festival in Miami, headlined by Burna Boy and Wizkid.
